The German businessman who criticized the Catalan independents

Karl Jacobi: “Puigdemont lives in Brussels like a king, and we pay him”

The German businessman who intervened in a colloquium in the German-speaking Directors’ Circle to affirm that the president of the Parliament of Catalonia, Roger Torrent, should go to jail, stated on Friday that he felt “embarrassed” after the German justice would free him. The former president of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont.

“It is the first time in my life that I feel ashamed of being German. People there have no idea what is happening in Spain and the result insults me,” said Karl Jakobi in statements to RAC-1.

Attack on TV-3 Television Catalan

In his opinion, the launch of Puigdemont has had an impact on “the propaganda factory that is TV-3”: “Public opinion in Germany and other European countries is what it is, and what there is more tendency to favor These Catalan Nazis that The Government of Spain TV-3 has its structures and organizations and is making propaganda for all of Europe.”

‘At the end of the day, judges are human beings. What they think and see, logically, is influenced by who that person is, and when it comes to making a judgment, logically all of those influences influence, he added.

For Jakobi, “Catalans live existentially from this, because what they want is something that is not provided for in the Constitution. They have to lie and falsify history.”

He has maintained that the Spanish Government notified Puigdemont several times, and has considered that the 1-0 referendum was “the formulation of a coup d’état.”

Asked why the Higher Regional Court (OLG) of Schleswig-Holstein sees Puigdemont’s extradition as a crime of embezzlement, but not rebellion, he assured that “of course there was violence.”

Thus, he has indicated that the problem is that in Germany “there is no law in the Constitution against what Puigdemont has done”, so they cannot judge him for it.

In favor of preventive detention

Regarding whether he shares preventive detention for imprisoned Catalan politicians, he has defended the measure: “Puigdemont himself has shown what can happen, that people leave Spain, live in Brussels like a king, and we pay them.”

After Jakovi intervened at the conference held in March at the Equestrian Circle to tell Torrent that he should go to jail, the president of the German-speaking Directors’ Circle, Albert Peters, apologized to the president of Parliament for the businessman’s tone .

Jakobi has assured that Peters “as a person” shares the same opinion, although as president of the entity he must be politically correct because what he says is interpreted by all members.
